Don’t look now but the Pittsburgh Penguins are starting to find their game with their latest outing being their best yet.
After racking up back-to-back wins against the Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins throughout the week, the Penguins were tasked with getting right back on the ice Saturday to face the Calgary Flames. Pittsburgh not only showed up for the game but performed on all ends of the ice — headlined by their power play to win 6-2. Considering how tough their season has been, the win over the Flames in the second game of a back-to-back feels like the win of the season to this point.
Anthony Beauvillier got things started for the Pens in the first period before they erupted for two power-play goals in the second period — one of which was from the newly acquired Philip Tomasino, who scored his second goal in as many days.
The Penguins added three more goals in the third period, including the third power-play goal off the stick of longtime defenseman Kris Letang. Both Letang and Michael Bunting had three-point games in the winning effort, helping push the Penguins to a three-game winning streak. Pittsburgh goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic allowed just two goals, making 30 saves throughout the game.
Pittsburgh will look to make it four-straight games on Tuesday night when they welcome the Florida Panthers into town.
