The Pittsburgh Steelers are 2-0 after taking down the Denver Broncos on the road.
The Steelers’ season could not have started better, as they are one of the nine teams in the league who remain undefeated. A downside from their most recent win was the play of offensive lineman Broderick Jones.
The 2023 first-round pick was ultimately benched for rookie Troy Fautanu after having three penalties in one drive. Jones was called for a false start and two holding penalties, one of which negated a 51-yard catch by George Pickens that would have put the Steelers in a 1st-and-goal situation in a one-possession game.
Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger had advice for Jones after being benched for Fautanu on the most recent episode of his Footbahlin podcast.
“I know he’s going to be frustrated,” Roethlisberger said. “I think the best thing for Broderick right now is to just sweep it under the rug. Let’s watch it and figure out why it happened.”

“Was it technique? Did the guy just beat you? Sometimes those things just happen. He needs to go back and watch it, figure it out, check the technique, check what it was. Get it checked off and put it behind him. If you sit and dwell on it and I don’t know what coach is going to do moving forward but if you dwell on it, it’ll just build up. He’s gotta be ready to step up and be the dude.”
Pittsburgh hopes Jones will develop into their franchise left tackle but will play their top-five lineman right now. It’s unclear what will happen, but Jones needs to step up to earn his way back into the starting lineup.
