Mike Tomlin isn’t only one of the NFL’s best head coaches. He’s also one of the league’s best quotes.
Tomlin has been responsible for a slew of memorable soundbites over the course of his Steelers tenure. In fact, there’s even a Reddit thread dedicated to the funny lines he’s dropped since taking over in Pittsburgh in 2007.
The collection received a new addition Tuesday, two days after Tomlin’s group improved to 2-0 on the season.
Pittsburgh secured its second straight win in Denver, where Russell Wilson watched from the sideline while Justin Fields guided the Steelers to a 13-6 triumph. While Wilson didn’t play in Week 2, he still received a “petty game ball” from Tomlin since the visitors topped the veteran quarterback’s old team.
Tomlin on Tuesday was asked if such an “award” is commonplace in his locker room, and he side-stepped in the question in vintage fashion.

“None of your businesses, respectfully,” Tomlin told reporters, per a video shared by Awful Announcing. “There are certain things that go on among teams that I don’t talk about. Whether it gets out or how it gets out is unimportant to me. I’m not overly guarded against it. But there are certain things, as a leader, that I talk to the collective about that I have zero intentions of sharing with the larger public because it’s about our collective and how we appreciate and support one another. You know, I can’t give you all the ingredients to the hot dog. You might not like it.”
That wasn’t the only noteworthy remark Tomlin made ahead of Week 3. He also revealed Pittsburgh is “readying itself” to play Fields again Sunday when the Steelers play their home opener against the 2-0 Los Angeles Chargers.
