Will the Pittsburgh Steelers pull off another move before the 2024 National Football League season kicks off?
Well, there’s not much time left.
Pittsburgh will begin the new season on Sunday, September 8th against the Atlanta Falcons. There is just one week to go until Pittsburgh returns to the field to play meaningful games and the team already has been extremely busy over the last week.
The Steelers and every other team in the league had to trim down their roster to just 53 players. This led to hundreds of players being cut across the league and some being moved through trades. Pittsburgh has made a flurry of moves since to put together its practice squad and alter the 53-man roster.
There still are some very enticing free agents still available with Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox mentioning the Steelers as a fit for former Green Bay Packers Pro Bowler David Bakhtiari.

“Longtime Packers starter David Bakhtiari is the most intriguing lineman available,” Knox said. “Injuries have limited him to just 13 games over the last three seasons, but he’s a two-time first-team All-Pro and a three-time Pro Bowler who wants to resume his NFL career…Bakhtiari, 32, could be signed at a bargain price since he needs to reestablish himself as a reliable starter…
“The Steelers could be in the market for O-line help, as the unit struggled throughout the preseason—to the point that it received a critique from backup quarterback Justin Fields after the preseason.”
Bakhtiari only appeared in 13 games over the last three seasons due to injuries but was named an All-Pro in each of the five seasons before that. If the Steelers want to add offensive line depth, he likely is the best option available.
