Just one month ago, some still believed that Pittsburgh Steelers signal-caller Aaron Rodgers was a top 10 quarterback.
Amid a brutal stretch that included one of the worst games of his career and a recent fractured left wrist though, the four-time MVP is clearly trending down heading into Sunday’s huge Week 14 showdown against the Baltimore Ravens.
Rodgers missed his first game of the season in Week 12 and struggled in Week 13 vs. the Buffalo Bills, but ESPN NFL writer Matt Bowen said on Wednesday that the 42-year-old is at least still the best in the league at one thing.
Bowen listed the “best NFL players at 109 different skills” and argued that Rodgers still has the quickest throw release.
“Rodgers is still getting the ball out with speed, using his quick release to attack tight windows. His average time to throw of 2.67 seconds is the second lowest in the league,” he wrote.

While Rodgers may remain the best at quick throws, the future Hall of Famer’s deep game has unsurprisingly suffered as a result.
Rodgers enters Week 14 averaging 6.7 yards gained per pass attempt, matching his 2024 and 2015 figures for the lowest in his career since becoming a starter in 2008. That excludes the 2023 campaign when he suffered a season-ending injury in Week 1.
At least Rodgers is still No. 1 at something.
