Steelers Legend Predicts How Long Aaron Rodgers Stays In Pittsburgh: One And Done?

Rodgers signed a one-year deal with the Steelers

Steelers fans might want to hold off buying those No. 8 Aaron Rodgers jerseys. According to one of Pittsburgh’s all-time great quarterbacks, Rodgers will be one-and-done with the Steelers.

In fact, two-time Super Bowl champion Ben Roethlisberger said last week on his podcast “Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger” that the 2025 season likely will be Rodgers’ last in the NFL.

“I don’t think he’s got much more after this year,” Roethlisberger said, per USA Today. “I think this might be it for him — personally. I have no reason — you could ask, ‘Well how do you know?’ I don’t know. I’m just guessing in terms of you coming off an Achilles [tear]. Coming off my elbow [injury], my first year back I felt like I was 100. I wasn’t even — you don’t realize you’re not 100 until the next year when you are 100.”

Rodgers joined the Steelers earlier this month by signing a one-year, $13.65 million contract after a pair of largely unsuccessful seasons with the New York Jets. His first year with Gang Green was a wash after tearing his Achilles tendon in his Jets debut.

But according to Roethlisberger, Rodgers’ health at age 41 doesn’t translate to longevity.

“He’s going to feel better, but it doesn’t mean that he’s going to have two or three years left. I think this might be his last go,” Roethlisberger said.

Rodgers will face the Jets in his Steelers regular-season debut when Pittsburgh visits MetLife Stadium in Week 1. Another reunion game looms for Rodgers in Week 8 when the Steelers host the Packers. Rodgers won four NFL MVP Awards with Green Bay and led the Packers to victory over the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV.
