The Pittsburgh Steelers are patiently waiting for Aaron Rodgers to make his decision, and their competitor seems to already have their backup plan.
Rodgers reportedly is choosing between the Steelers and the New York Giants for his next team. The Minnesota Vikings reportedly were off the list after they decided to not pursue the four-time NFL MVP.
There isn’t a clear indication of which team the 41-year-old is leaning toward. However, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini on the “Dan Patrick Show,” the Giants are “hoping that Russell Wilson or Joe Flacco decide to come to New York” if Rodgers doesn’t choose to sign with the NFC East side.
Wilson potentially could have been a backup option for the Steelers if Rodgers chose the Giants or decided to retire. Pittsburgh reportedly is willing to roll with Mason Rudolph as a starting option, and there is also the NFL draft, which the coaching staff and front office seem to be doing their research on.
Rodgers holds all the cards, and the Steelers and Giants are stuck playing the waiting game.
