Najee Harris officially signed with his new team Friday, but he seemed to throw a shot at the Steelers before moving into the next chapter of his career.
The Los Angeles Chargers signed Harris to a one-year and formally introduced him in a news conference. The 27-year-old gave the organization high marks for its facilities and seemed to go a step further in his praise.
“It’s a great weight room, first of all, even the facilities is all great things,” Harris told reporters, per the Chargers. “A lot of things that they provide here to take advantage of, and I was telling them, I was like, ‘It’s not like this everywhere, man. This is a special thing.’ It reminded me of college at Alabama, the resources that they have. Just getting the chance to take advantage of this opportunity is a blessing. I was telling them, ”Y’all have a great thing going on right now because it’s not like this everywhere, it’s not.’ Just happy to be here.”
Harris only played for one team in his NFL career before the Chargers signed him, so it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the franchise he’s shading.
However, to be fair to the Pro Bowl running back, he wasn’t the only one with a low opinion of the Steelers. They ranked 28th in the 2025 NFL Players Association “report card.” The notable low grades were nutritionist, training room, weight room and strength coaches, which each ranked in the bottom 10 in the NFL.

The Chargers certainly have the benefit of being a newer franchise, but players didn’t let the Rooney family off the hook and feel like they could do more for the team. That might have been a factor in Harris’ free agency decision.
