Steelers Reportedly Swing Blockbuster Trade For Superstar Receiver

The Steelers backed up the brinks truck for this wideout, too

The Pittsburgh Steelers went all in Sunday night to acquire a game-changing wide receiver.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Steelers acquired two-time Pro Bowler DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick. Schefter also noted the two teams are flipping picks in the sixth and seventh rounds.

The Steelers certainly didn’t have to give up a ton to get Metcalf, but they sure made a hefty financial investment in the 27-year-old wideout. The Steelers are handing Metcalf, who requested a trade out of Seattle, a lucrative five-year, $150 million contract that will make him one of the top-paid receivers in the NFL, per Schefter.

Pittsburgh needed another dynamic threat in its receiving corps to pair with George Pickens and certainly got that in Metcalf — no word on if Pickens will give up No. 14 to Metcalf. Metcalf has three 1,000-year receiving seasons under his belt and came close this past season when he tallied 66 receptions for 992 yards and five touchdowns. The five touchdowns were actually Metcalf’s lowest mark of his career, but he also missed a couple of games.

Having Metcalf on board will obviously benefit Pittsburgh’s offense in the upcoming season, but also could be key with free agency starting. The Steelers are in need of a quarterback with Justin Fields and Russel Wilson set to be free agent and Metcalf could entice an upgrade option at that all-important position to Pittsburgh.
