Steelers Mock Draft: Pittsburgh Projected To Select Michigan DL

Who will Pittsburgh select?

Who will the Pittsburgh Steelers select in the first round of the upcoming National Football League Draft?

We are at the point in the year where the playoffs are in full swing but the draft also isn’t too far away. The college football season just came to an end on Monday with the National Championship game and mock drafts have been floated left and right. Pittsburgh will make its first pick at No. 21 in the upcoming draft barring a trade.

Who will they select, though?

Newsweek’s Gavino Borquez released a mock draft and projected that the Steelers will end up selecting Michigan defensive lineman Kenneth Grant.

“Pittsburgh Steelers.” Borquez said. “Kenneth Grant | DL | Michigan. The Steelers have a huge need at wide receiver, but history shows they aren’t the ones to take one in Round 1. Cameron Heyward isn’t getting any younger, and Keeanu Benton offers no more than a pass rusher. Grant would provide a boost with his ability to control the point of attack and generate pressure consistently.”

Grant is coming off a season in which he logged three sacks, seven tackles for loss, 32 total tackles, five passes defended, and two fumble recoveries in just 12 games for Michigan.

He is one of the best defensive linemen prospects in this upcoming draft class. Adding him to the mix certainly wouldn’t hurt. It would be nice to add a pass-catcher, but maybe the Steelers will do that in free agency or on the trade market.
