Mike Tomlin Throws Shade At Former Steelers Wide Receiver

Tomlin isn't worried about Diontae Johnson

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin isn’t one to shy away from drama, even if that means hurting the feelings of a former player.

Pittsburgh is scheduled to host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, which means the return of former wide receiver Diontae Johnson to Acrisure Stadium. Tomlin was asked about his former weapon and didn’t mince words when discussing his current role with the Steelers’ rival.

“I haven’t thought a lot about him,” Tomlin said Tuesday, per team-provided video. “He’s not on a lot of their video, and so at this stage of the week, I don’t know that I’ve weighed what he might mean to the matchup. They’ve got more significant pieces with larger roles that occupy my attention at this part of the week.”

Johnson was drafted by Pittsburgh and played the first five seasons of his career there before being traded to the Panthers in March. Carolina then flipped Johnson to Baltimore at the trade deadline where has just one catch for six yards.

So, Tomlin has a reason for not paying attention to the 28-year-old.

He probably could have been nicer about it, though.
