The Pittsburgh Steelers will have another dynamic option to consider as they take on the Washington Commanders on Sunday afternoon.
Pittsburgh will take on the Commanders, hoping to win its seventh game of the season. The Steelers are 6-2 and already have the top spot in the AFC North over the second-place Baltimore Ravens. A win over the Commanders will make things even easier for Pittsburgh and give the team a better chance of locking down the top spot in the division this season.
The Steelers are 2-0 with Russell Wilson under center since he took over the starting quarterback spot. Justin Fields started the first six games of the season and has been the backup since. He wasn’t in the Steelers’ last game due to an injury, but he is back for the Commanders clash, according to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.
“Justin Fields is active and back at No. 2 QB. Mike Williams and Preston Smith are both active,” Pryor said. “Inactives: No. 4 QB Kyle Allen (3rd QB), No. 13 WR Scott Miller, No. 21 CB C.J. Henderson, No. 51 LB Nick Herbig, No. 64 OG Max Scharping.”
The fact that Fields is active should be a good sign for Pittsburgh fans. Wilson clearly is the team’s starting quarterback, but having Fields back at least gives the team the opportunity to utilize his skills in small packages. It’s unclear if he will see any time against Washington, but it wouldn’t be too shocking.

All in all, it’s at least positive that he is back for the Steelers.
