Steelers Miss Out On Another Possible Trade For Star Wide Receiver

Will the Steelers make a deal for a receiver this season?

Unfortunately, the Pittsburgh Steelers have missed the opportunity to trade for a star wide receiver again.

It is no secret that the Steelers have actively been trying to add more firepower to their offense. After trading away Diontae Johnson in the offseason, Pittsburgh lacked potent receiving options outside George Pickens. They were close to getting a deal done in the offseason that would have landed them San Francisco 49ers All-Pro wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, but he later would re-sign with San Francisco.

Pittsburgh was in the running for Las Vegas Raiders star Davante Adams, but the Raiders traded Davante Adams to the New York Jets, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

“The Raiders are completing a trade of star WR Davante Adams to the Jets, sources say,” Rapoport said. “Back with his good friend, Aaron Rodgers. As Las Vegas moves on.”

The Jets were considered the frontrunners from the start for Adams, with Aaron Rodgers making a strong push to reunite with the star receiver. The Steelers had their recruiting push with Cordarelle Patterson and DeShon Elliot making it known they wanted Adams in the black and gold. Pittsburgh even met with the Raiders to discuss a deal for Adams before they made a deal with the Jets.

The Steelers will likely look to add another receiving threat as the trade deadline approaches. They are 4-2 heading into Week 7 with an elite defense, but their offense could use a boost. As the Nov. 5 trade deadline nears, more potential trade options should emerge for Pittsburgh.
