Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt will return on Sunday.
Watt, who missed three games after undergoing successful surgery to stabilize and repair a partially collapsed lung that was suffered during a dry needling treatment session at the team facility, is fully healthy and will return to the field for a do-or-die matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
“I feel really good,” Watt said following practice on Friday, according to The Athletic’s Mike DeFabo. “I feel really confident in the week of practice and excited to play.”
Watt provided some details of the admittedly odd circumstances that led to his time on the shelf, sharing that it was a member of the organization’s staff who was treating him with dry needling when the accident occurred. Watt added that he doesn’t bring outside practitioners into the facility and brushed off any hard feelings toward the organization.
“I think a lot of guys, not only in this facility but across a lot of professional sports, use dry needling a lot,” Watt said. “It just so happened to be a fluke thing, apparently.”
