In Shocking Twist, Colin Cowherd Makes Bold Playoff Prediction For Steelers

After ripping Pittsburgh all season, Cowherd finally changed his tune

Colin Cowherd has been one of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ most vocal critics all season, calling out their age, offense, defense and Mike Tomlin. The only Steeler he hasn’t criticized, it seems, is Aaron Rodgers.

Following Pittsburgh’s 29-24 road win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday, however, Cowherd changed his tune during Monday’s episode of “The Herd,” finally giving the Steelers some praise.

“Mike Tomlin, Aaron Rodgers, and the Steelers deserve credit. In a weakened AFC — no Mahomes, Burrow, right? They may pick up their first playoff win in nine seasons,” Cowherd said. “In the last three weeks, they’re averaging over six yards a play. Those are big boy numbers. So, it’s getting better.”

Things are coming together at the right time for Pittsburgh, which has won three straight games and now leads the AFC North by two games over the Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers just need one win or one Ravens loss over the next two weeks to clinch the division and host a playoff game during Wild Card Weekend.

Many teams have been crushed by injuries this year, including Pittsburgh. Aaron Rodgers is banged up and T.J. Watt is hurt, but the Steelers have persevered, playing their best football during the biggest (and coldest) games of the season.

Meanwhile, the rest of their division has collapsed around them. Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson both missed large chunks of the season, knocking their teams out of contention. The Cleveland Browns remain terrible, opening the door for Pittsburgh to win its first division title since 2020.

The Steelers have had some help and aren’t a perfect team by any means, but Cowherd’s right. They still deserve credit for overcoming their flaws and finishing the season strong.
