Report: Steelers’ T.J. Watt Unlikely To Play Week 16 Vs. Lions

When will Watt be back in action?

It was reported on Monday that Pittsburgh Steelers Pro Bowl linebacker T.J. Watt is expected to return from his lung-related absence before the end of the season.

It doesn’t look like that’ll be happening in Week 16 when the Steelers visit the Detroit Lions.

“Steelers LB T.J. Watt (lung) didn’t practice again today and now appears unlikely to return for Sunday’s game vs. the Lions,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero posted on Bluesky.

The 31-year-old superstar defender missed his first game of the season in Week 15 when Pittsburgh defeated the Miami Dolphins 28-15 on “Monday Night Football.”

Watt suffered a partially collapsed lung last week and has yet to return to practice.

If Watt does indeed miss Sunday’s contest vs. the Lions, the 2021 AP Defensive Player of the Year’s next chance at returning to action will come on Dec. 28 when the Steelers face the Cleveland Browns on the road.
