DK Metcalf has only been with the Pittsburgh Steelers for a few months, but he already loves Pittsburgh and Steelers fans.
On Thursday, he explained why on “The Christian Kuntz Podcast.”
“It’s straight blue collar, that’s what I (expletive) with,” Metcalf said. “Y’all come to work. You don’t care about complaints or oh, the weather may be bad or any of that. Y’all are coming to work and that’s what I like, the ruggedness about it. They’re real, genuine people.”
Steelers fans are passionate, tough and dedicated. They reflect the city’s gritty, hardworking, lunch pail attitude.
Pittsburgh has a much different atmosphere than Seattle, where Metcalf spent the first six years of his career. Seattle gives off more elite vibes with all of its money, tech and innovation in a city dominated by Amazon and Starbucks.

Seahawks fans are passionate, too, but in a different way. Steelers fans have generations of history with the team, not to mention cold weather and one of the toughest divisions in football. There are no bandwagon fans or fake celebrity fans like with other teams.
The team is old school, just like the city. It may not be for everyone, but Metcalf seems to love it.
That’s not surprising that he shows up to work every day, missing just three games in his NFL career so far. He’s also not one to complain and just goes about his business, doing whatever he can to help the team win.
