The Pittsburgh Steelers kept pace atop the AFC North division in Week 15, as they picked up an important 28-15 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football. There’s still a lot of work to be done, though, but NFL insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN believes that postseason football is in this team’s future.
Over the past two weeks, the Steelers have done a great job of bouncing back from what appeared to be a potentially season-ending skid. Now, they are once again in the pole position to win their division and find their way back to the playoffs. Not only does Fowler believe that will happen, but he thinks Pittsburgh will sneak out a victory in the wild-card round as well.
“Mike Tomlin will get his first playoff win since 2016,” Fowler wrote. “The Steelers will win the AFC North and steal a wild-card game at home. They are flawed, but they have an identity built through their running game.”
It’s no secret that the Steelers are far from a perfect team, but when they play their best version of football, they can toe-to-toe with any team in the league. Pittsburgh’s defense is loaded with talent, and veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers has proven he can turn back the clock when he needs to on offense this year.
In order to make Fowler’s prediction come true, though, the Steelers still have to find a way to keep the Baltimore Ravens at arm’s length and wrap up their division. Pittsburgh will draw another tough matchup in Week 16, though, as it will hit the road to take on the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon.
