Steelers Player Makes Bold Claim About Aaron Rodgers After Historic Performance

MVS had high praise for his longtime teammate

With Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers approaching the end of his 21st NFL season, his resume speaks for itself. With four NFL MVPs, one Super Bowl championship, the best passer rating in NFL history and countless other records, Rodgers is an obvious Hall of Famer.

He’s still playing at a high level, too, even at age 42. On Monday night against the Miami Dolphins, he became the oldest starting quarterback in NFL history to complete at least 85 percent of his passes in one game.

Rodgers is clearly one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, right up there with Tom Brady, Payton Manning and others. One of his Steelers teammates believes he’s the best to ever do it.

“Obviously, I think he’s the best quarterback that ever played this game,” Pittsburgh wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling told reporters this week. “If he’s 65 years old, he can still spin the ball. He’s always playing chess with the defense and getting guys into the spot that they want to be.”

This is Valdes-Scantling’s fifth season playing with Rodgers, so he knows what he’s talking about. He helped Rodgers win two MVPs with the Green Bay Packers before teaming up with him again this year after being released by the San Francisco 49ers in October.

Rodgers connected with Valdes-Scantling for a 19-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter in Monday’s 28-15 rout of the Dolphins, proving that both players still got it. It was Valdes-Scantling’s first touchdown grab of the season.

Both players will look to build on their chemistry during Sunday’s tough road matchup against the Detroit Lions.
