The Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t waste any time following their dismantling of the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football.
The Steelers worked out nine players on Tuesday, as shared by Pro Football Talk: quarterbacks Hendon Hooker and Jack Plummer, tight ends J.J. Galbreath and Colin Granger, wide receivers Johnny Johnson, Brandon Smith and Chris Tyree, and running backs Tre Stewart and Jordan Waters.
Hooker and Plummer were helpful in the fact that they could throw to those running backs, wide receivers and tight ends, but perhaps their presence represented and opportunity to get a head start on finding some quarterback depth as the organization only has rookie Will Howard under contract for 2026-27.
Hooker, 27, originally entered the league as a third-round pick of the Detroit Lions, before eventually moving on and spending some time on the practice squad of the Carolina Panthers. Hooker has appeared in three games, completing 6-of-9 passes for 62 yards.
Plummer, 26, has spent time on the same practice squad, including stints in both 2024 and 2025.
