The Pittsburgh Steelers are doing everything they can to please Aaron Rodgers — that’s the way it looks, anyway.
The Steelers elevated wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Valdes-Scantling, who recently spent time with the Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco Giants, will have an opportunity to reunite with Rodgers after previously spending four seasons together with the Green Bay Packers. Pittsburgh made the decision to bring aboard the veteran wide receiver by signing him to the practice squad on Nov. 4.
Valdes-Scantling has 23 receptions for 451 yards across the last two seasons, though there’s still belief he can provide a spark given what else they’ve gotten from that position group…
Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson have seen their play decline over the last several weeks, combining for 10 catches for 107 yards — including absolutely nothing in last weekend’s loss to the Buffalo Bills — since the start of November. DK Metcalf has been better, but is still on pace for his lowest reception and receiving yard totals since his rookie season.
