Steelers’ DK Metcalf Among Three Fined After Loss To Bills

Metcalf lost nearly $15,000

The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered an uncompetitive loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 13, which had an impact on both the standings and their wallets…

DK Metcalf ($14,491). Cam Heyward ($11,593) and Payton Wilson ($7,066) were all fined by the NFL on Saturday.

Metcalf’s was rather silly, as he’ll have to pay the equivalent of a used midsize sedan for what the league called a violent gesture — hitting the “too small” celebration on Bills cornerback Christian Benford. Heyward was fined for unsportsmanlike conduct — taunting Bills quarterback Josh Allen — while Wilson received two fines for unnecessary roughness — one late hit and one blindside block — with the trio’s total coming in at nearly $40,000.

Alan Saunders of Pittsburgh Sports Now provided video evidence in the case of all four signs.

It’ll remain to be seen whether or not the players elect to appeal those fines, though very few ever do. The Steelers will move past the fines and look to get back on the right track during Sunday’s matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.
