Adam Thielen reportedly is headed to the Steel City.
The Pittsburgh Steelers claimed the veteran wide receiver on waivers, as first reported by NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero. Thielen asked the Minnesota Vikings to be released and the organization granted his request.
Thielen, who plans to retire at the end of the 2025 campaign, requested to be released in hopes he would land with a playoff contender in his final season.
Pittsburgh (6-6) currently have the same record as the division-leading Ravens, but rank second in the AFC North and ninth in the AFC. The Steelers currently have a 30 percent chance to make the postseason, according to NFL.com.
Thielen caught eight of the 18 passes thrown his way for 69 yards in 11 games this season. Playing behind star wideout Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, Thielen was limited to just 29 percent of offensive snaps in Minnesota.
