Steelers Captain Explains Dust-Up With Bills QB Josh Allen

Cam Heyward claims Allen intentionally kneed him in the stomach

Steelers defensive captain Cam Heyward wasn’t pleased with Bills star quarterback Josh Allen during Buffalo’s Week 13 win.

And not only because Allen accounted for a pair of touchdowns in the 26-7 victory at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday.

Heyward claimed that Allen intentionally kneed him in the stomach during the first half, which prompted a consistent back-and-forth throughout the remainder of the matchup. The incident appeared to take place with less than six minutes left in the first half after Heyward tried to get up after tackling Allen on a run play.

“(I was) ticked off the entire game because, as a quarterback, they’re protected, but I’m not,” Heyward told reporters after the game, per ESPN’s Brooke Pryor. “It just pisses me off.”

Heyward added: “He even said after, ‘I had to do something to get you off me.'”

Allen discussed his run-ins with Heyward, but did not responded specifically to Heyward’s allegations.

“We love the competitiveness out of this game,” Allen said. “He’s such a great player. Sometimes, you need fire like that to get you going.”
