The reeling Pittsburgh Steelers continued their midseason spiral on Sunday, losing 26-7 to the Buffalo Bills at Acrisure Stadium and inducing “Fire Tomlin” chants from the disappointed home crowd.
The Steelers struggled mightily on both sides of the ball, producing one of their ugliest and sloppiest losses in recent memory. Offensively, they managed just 166 total yards and were shut out in the second half. Defensively, they were gashed for 249 yards on the ground and gave up 23 points after halftime.
Numerous Pittsburgh players were visibly frustrated following their second straight loss and fifth defeat in their last seven games, including Aaron Rodgers and T.J. Watt.
Mike Tomlin wasn’t too pleased with their performance either, laying into his slumping team during his postgame press conference.
“You know, not a lot needs to be said, man. It’s an awful performance by us, but it’s us,” Tomlin told reporters after the game. “We didn’t do a lot well tonight, obviously. We didn’t possess the ball or maintain ball security on offense. We were highly penalized. We allowed those guys to run the ball. Didn’t play 60 minutes of action. Didn’t play complementary football. And so, we gotta absorb that result.”

Tomlin added that “we’re certainly not gonna feel sorry for ourselves” and “we’ve got a lot of work in front of us.”
The Steelers have collapsed since their 4-1 start, going just 2-5 since then and allowing the Baltimore Ravens to catch them in the AFC North standings. Their defense has been a mess all season, and Aaron Rodgers has started looking more like a 41-year-old quarterback lately.

Pittsburgh will try to bounce back next week in Baltimore with first place in the division up for grabs, but Tomlin’s squad must make major improvements on both sides of the ball if it wants to upset the Ravens.
