The Pittsburgh Steelers traded wide receiver George Pickens in the offseason, and it was a big mistake.
Pickens has been one of the best receivers for the Dallas Cowboys this season, recording 73 receptions for 1,142 receiving yards and scoring eight touchdowns in 12 games.
Pickens’ 1,142 receiving yards are significant because the Steelers’ wide receivers as a whole this season have only recorded 1,082 receiving yards.
It should be significant that Pickens has 60 more receiving yards than the entire receiving group. Even though Pickens played one more game than the Steelers, since the Cowboys played on Thursday, there’s no way one player should overshadow an entire receiving core.
If the Steelers had never traded Pickens, he and DK Metcalf could’ve created one of the best receiver duos in the NFL, and Pittsburgh’s offense would’ve been hard to stop.

Pittsburgh was eager to trade Pickens before he became a free agent at the end of the season. This move might not hurt the Steelers in the long run, but for this season, Pickens is proving why Pittsburgh should have kept him for another year.
