Mike Tomlin Issues Heartwarming Thanksgiving Offer To Steelers

Thanksgiving could be quite a busy day for Tomlin

The Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up for a pivotal Week 13 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, but the team will take a break from its work on Thursday to celebrate Thanksgiving. Ahead of the holiday, head coach Mike Tomlin made a heartwarming offer to his team that could result in his day becoming quite busy.

Thanksgiving is a time for folks to celebrate with their families, but some players and staffers don’t have anyone in the Pittsburgh area to celebrate with. Tomlin knows that this can create a challenge for some of the people he works with on a daily basis, so he opted to invite the entire team to his house for Thanksgiving if they need someone to celebrate with.

“I’d like to open my home up to anyone and everyone in here,” Tomlin said ahead of the holiday.

Tomlin has been the Steelers’ head coach since 2007, so it’s safe to say he knows what his players need at this time of the year. The NFL season is a grind, and it can be a big blow if these guys don’t have an opportunity to properly recharge during the holidays. As a result, Tomlin has made it a yearly tradition to extend an open invitation to his team.

Depending on how many folks take him up on his offer, Tomlin’s off day could end up becoming pretty busy. If he can help out even one person on his team, though, it’s a move that is worthwhile in his eyes. Pittsburgh will return to practice on Friday in preparation for its clash with Buffalo on Sunday afternoon.
