DK Metcalf Provides Injury Update After Missing Wednesday’s Practice

Will Metcalf suit up this week?

Several starters were sidelined for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Wednesday afternoon practice.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, wide receiver DK Metcalf and offensive lineman Broderick Jones headlined the inactives.

Metcalf’s injury status came as a surprise to Steelers fans. The wideout finished the game in last Sunday’s narrow loss to the Chicago Bears. He has not missed a practice all year.

Metcalf was asked about his absence and provided a promising update.

“Just got rolled up on,” Metcalf said, as reported by Chris Ward for Steelers Now. “I think I’ll be alright [for Sunday].”

Metcalf has struggled severely in the second half of the season. It has been more than a month since the $132 million receiver scored a touchdown.

He has recorded just 15 receptions for 112 yards in the last four games combined.

The Steelers drew the short straw when it comes to bye weeks. They are now eight weeks removed from their Week 5 bye, which was the earliest possible draw.

Head coach Mike Tomlin provided an update on the full injury report Tuesday.

“A couple of guys that are managing some in-game things from last week that may be limited at the early portions of the week — and we’ll see where their participation leads — Joey Porter with a hip, DK Metcalf got his ankle rolled, but he was able to finish,” Tomlin said. “But again, certainly, we’ll probably limit him at the early portions of the week. And the same thing for Ben Skowronek with a shoulder.”

The Steelers will host the Buffalo Bills at Acrisure Stadium for a 4:25 PM EST kickoff Sunday.
