Kay Adams Slams Steelers Offseason Move: ‘Worst Deal In NFL History’

'I'm sorry to the Steelers, I just think it's true'

Everyone got to see what former Pittsburgh Steelers draft pick George Pickens is able to do when he exploded with a nine-catch, 144-yard game on “Monday Night Football” against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Pickens currently sits in second place in the NFL with 908 yards on the season, and he is doing so with far fewer targets than many of the other top dogs.

The new Dallas Cowboys weapon was acquired from Pittsburgh in May. The deal sent Pickens and a 2027 sixth-round pick to Dallas in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick.

Hindsight is 20/20, and the host of the “Up & Adams Show,” Kay Adams, is using her hindsight to bash the blockbuster deal.

“I think that trading George Pickens is probably going to go down as one of the worst deals in NFL history, and I mean that,” Adams said. “I’m sorry to the Steelers, I just think it’s true… and the best from a Dallas perspective, like, what a haul.”

Pickens is still on his rookie contract. Meaning that after this soon-to-be 1,000-yard season, he will be up for a major pay raise.

This takes a lot of the sting out of the move, but Adams believes that the on-field product outweighs these concerns.

“It is so clear — it is so glaringly obvious watching George Pickens last night a day after Kenneth Gainwell led Pittsburgh in receiving against the Bengals; this is clearly a bad call by the Steelers,” Adams said. “They’re (the Steelers) trying to find any semblance of consistency and rhythm outside of D.K. (Metcalf) in the passing game; it just doesn’t exist.”

She then admitted that Pickens will need to win a ring in Dallas to truly land among the Mount Rushmore of NFL trades, but added that if the Steelers had retained Pickens, “We would be looking at Pittsburgh totally differently.”
