NFL Insider Names Steelers’ Arthur Smith As Possible Head Coaching Candidate

Smith could be an NFL head coach in 2026

The Pittsburgh Steelers offense is averaging 24.6 points per game this season, and one of the main reasons is offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.

Smith is in his second season as Pittsburgh’s offensive coordinator, and this could be his last.

With the NFL offseason approaching in the next two months, head coaching jobs will become available, and Smith could be a possible option for one. ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler stated on Wednesday that Smith could get head-coaching looks this offseason.

Smith was the Atlanta Falcons head coach from 2021 to 2023 and finished with a 21-30 record, including a 7-10 record in all three seasons.

While there are only two NFL head coaching jobs open at the moment, with the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans, more will likely be available soon. However, the Titans could be a legit option for Smith.

Smith served as an assistant coach with the Titans from 2011 to 2020, taking on various important roles. Most notably, he was the offensive coordinator for two seasons, from 2019 to 2020.

There’s a chance Smith could return to be the Titans’ head coach this offseason or head somewhere else to take on a head coaching role.
