NFL Will Review Ja’Marr Chase’s Alleged Spitting Incident Vs. Steelers

Will Chase get suspended?

A lot happened during the Pittsburgh Steelers’ wild 34-12 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Not only did Aaron Rodgers exit the game after suffering a wrist injury late in the first half, but Jalen Ramsey was also ejected in the fourth quarter after punching Ja’Marr Chase.

Despite being down several of their best players, the Steelers still prevailed over the Bengals at home.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport had news updates on both incidents on Monday morning. He noted that Rodgers is “pushing to play” in Sunday’s upcoming game against the Chicago Bears. He also said the NFL will review Ramsey’s incident with Chase, who allegedly incited the altercation by spitting on the star defender.

“The NFL is reviewing this, and precedent is there,” Rapoport said on Monday’s episode of “Good Morning Football.” “If a player is determined to have spit on another player, missing a game is something that has happened…We will see whether or not Ja’Marr Chase gets suspended this coming week.”

A similar situation occurred during the NFL season opener between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, when Jalen Carter was ejected and fined for spitting on Dak Prescott. Carter was not suspended for any future games, however.

Video evidence clearly shows Chase spitting on Ramsey, so it will be interesting to see how the league handles it. It’s possible that Chase could be suspended for Cincinnati’s game against the New England Patriots this week, which would benefit Pittsburgh.
