The Pittsburgh Steelers continued their roller-coaster 2025 season with Sunday night’s 25-10 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Pittsburgh followed an encouraging win over the Indianapolis Colts with a lackluster showing at SoFi Stadium. Stephen A. Smith skewered the Steelers’ loss on Monday’s “First Take.”
The ESPN personality noted that the Steelers fell to 29th in total offense, worse than their No. 28 defense that has drawn more scrutiny throughout the season.
“The defense is now better than the offense, and we know how awful the defense has been,” Smith said. “We know how we’ve been complaining about the defense. The offense has now usurped the defense as the worst category for the Pittsburgh Steelers. As pathetic as their defense has looked. I’m very disgusted right now.”
Mike Tomlin let reporters fill in the blanks when asked about Aaron Rodgers’ Week 10 performance, but Smith didn’t mince words after the 41-year-old quarterback averaged 5.2 yards per attempt with two interceptions and an end-zone sack resulting in a safety.

“It was awful,” Smith declared. “It was clearly his worst performance as a Steeler … Looked jittery in the pocket. Most importantly, looked moody.”
The 5-4 Steelers are now one game ahead of the Baltimore Ravens atop the AFC North. Smith is antsy about Pittsburgh squandering the early advantage by the time the rivals meet for the first of two matchups on Dec. 7.
“The way the Steelers look, are we really going to sit here and believe they ain’t going to lose another game before Week 14?” Smith asked. “We know they are. We know they are. I mean, it’s just a given. Oh, I’m just so disgusted right now.”

The Steelers answered a Week 2 loss to the Seattle Seahawks with three straight wins and rewrote the narrative by defeating the Colts after back-to-back losses to the Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers. They have another chance to get back on track when hosting the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11.
