It’s been a while since Aaron Rodgers has been considered the MVP of his team and a top 10 NFL quarterback.
Midway through his first season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Rodgers has re-entered both of those discussions, according to Joe Starkey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The columnist and radio host made the argument in his weekly mailbag on Tuesday when he was asked by a fan, “Who’s your Steelers MVP candidates at the halfway mark of the season?”
“Jaylen Warren has been good with 597 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns, Mr. Ed, but two candidates stand above the rest: Aaron Rodgers and Chris Boswell,” Starkey wrote. “Rodgers has been efficient and sometimes more than that. He has come through in some big moments. He has, in fact, recaptured a spot as a top-10 quarterback this season (tied for third in touchdown passes, ninth in passer rating, 10th in completion percentage, etc.).”
Rodgers’ 68.7% completion percentage is his highest since his last MVP campaign in 2021 and with 17 touchdown passes through eight games, he’s on pace for his highest total since the award-winning season as well. The 41-year-old’s 103.1 passer rating, meanwhile, is his first time over 100 in four years too.
