Steelers Make Surprising Late Addition To Week 9 Injury Report

Pittsburgh has another issue on its hands now

The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to get back in the win column in Week 9 after losing their past two games to the Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers. Ahead of their upcoming game, though, several key players are dealing with various injuries, and on Thursday afternoon, a key veteran defender was a late addition to the injury report.

That player is cornerback Darius Slay, who is in his first year with the Steelers. Slay was signed in free agency over the offseason with the hope that he could be a key piece of the team’s secondary, and while he’s started all seven of Pittsburgh’s games, he hasn’t played all that well.

Despite that, Slay is still a valuable member of the Steelers’ secondary. After Pittsburgh initially released its injury report on Thursday, there was no reason to be concerned about Slay’s status. Shortly after it was released, though, the Steelers quickly updated it by revealing that Slay did not participate in the team’s latest practice due to a personal matter.

Not much other info is known on Slay’s status, meaning he will be worth keeping tabs on as Sunday draws closer. The good news is that Slay still has one day to get himself back on the practice field for the Steelers, but if he’s unable to do so, he could be at serious risk of missing the team’s Week 9 action.

Pittsburgh will need all the help it can get when it takes the field next, because it has a daunting matchup against the Indianapolis Colts on its hands in Week 9. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon, and the team will surely be hoping to have Slay at its disposal for this one.
