Mike Tomlin Drops Truth Bomb On Steelers’ Loss To Packers

Tomlin didn't hold back after Pittsburgh's latest loss

The Pittsburgh Steelers were unable to get back in the win column in Week 8, as they suffered their second straight loss on Sunday Night Football at the hands of the Green Bay Packers. After a strong start to the game, the Steelers fell apart in the second half, leading to head coach Mike Tomlin admitting some harsh truths after the game.

It was a struggle on both sides of the ball for Pittsburgh in this one. While the defense enjoyed a strong first half, Packers quarterback Jordan Love picked them apart in the second half. The Steelers offense couldn’t get enough going on offense to keep pace, and the end result saw the team walk off the field with its record sitting at 4-3.

Considering the stranglehold Pittsburgh had on the AFC North division just two weeks ago, losing back-to-back games is a less-than-ideal development. Tomlin made it clear after the game that he isn’t panicking just yet, but he knows that his squad is going to have to play better if they want to maintain their lead atop their division.

“We’ve just got to be better in all areas, and it starts first with the positions that we put players in,” Tomlin said after the game. “It’s coaches, it’s players, it’s all of us. We own it. We’ll be better. We have to be.”

Even with these two losses, the Steelers are still leading the pack in the AFC North, but their big lead has quickly evaporated, and they will be desperate to pick up a win in Week 9. Unfortunately, they could have a tough time doing that, as they will take on the 7-1 Indianapolis Colts when they return to action next Sunday.
