Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers Could Make NFL History Against Former Team

Rodgers is on the cusp of NFL history

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has played a ton of football during his 21-year NFL career, appearing in 254 games (including 247 starts). He’s accomplished a lot during those two decades, beating almost every NFL team at least once.

The only team he hasn’t defeated yet is the Green Bay Packers, where he spent his first 18 NFL seasons. He hasn’t faced them yet since being traded after the 2022 season.

That will change this week, however, as Rodgers is slated to face them for the first — and possibly the last — time in his NFL career.

The Steelers will host the Packers on Sunday Night Football in Week 8, giving Rodgers a chance to make NFL history. If he defeats Green Bay, he’ll become just the fifth quarterback ever to beat all 32 NFL teams, joining Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Brett Favre and Peyton Manning.

Granted, the league expanded to 32 teams in 2002, making generations of quarterbacks ineligible. Still, it would be a nice feather in Rodgers’ cap if he takes down his old team in primetime.

Now that Rodgers plays in the AFC after spending most of his career in the NFC, he may not get another chance to face Green Bay, especially if he retires after this season. Pittsburgh doesn’t play them again this year, so their only chance to meet again would be in the Super Bowl.

Fortunately for Rodgers, the 41-year-old quarterback should be well-rested after last playing on Thursday Night Football, giving him a few extra days to recover and prepare for Micah Parsons and the Packers’ defense. Rodgers and his teammates will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing 33-31 road loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 7, so they should be extra motivated against a Green Bay team that’s 2-1-1 over its last four games.
