NFL Trade Rumors: Steelers Reportedly Looking To Add Wide Receiver

Pittsburgh's offense could use a boost

The Pittsburgh Steelers are off to a great start this season, going 4-1 and racing out to first place in the AFC North. The offense is clicking with Aaron Rodgers, and the defense has improved after a rocky start.

However, the Steelers haven’t been quite as impressive as their record suggests. Two of their wins have come against two of the worst teams in football, and their point differential is just plus-12.

Accordingly, Pittsburgh likely needs reinforcements by the trade deadline if it wants to make a deep playoff run, especially on offense. The Steelers rank 29th in total yards per game, including 25th in passing yards per game.

While D.K. Metcalf is having a terrific season, Pittsburgh could use a strong WR2 to pair with him after trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys last offseason.

Not surprisingly, the Steelers are reportedly looking to trade for a wide receiver, according to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.

“You’ve got the Chargers looking for a running back, the Steelers looking for a receiver,” Schefter said while discussing the NFL Trade Deadline on Monday’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show.”

It’s unclear who will be available, but Pittsburgh GM Omar Khan could try to target someone like Chris Olave or Jakobi Meyers.

Another wideout would give the Steelers’ offense a considerable boost and make their passing attack even more dangerous. Metcalf has been a one-man show with nearly three times as many receiving yards as any other Pittsburgh wide receiver, so he could use some help.

A proven WR2 would slot in nicely next to Metcalf and take some of the pressure off him, perhaps opening things up for the ground game as well.

If the Steelers do get another legit receiver, that could help them avoid fading down the stretch like they did last year.
