DK Metcalf Makes NFL International History In Win Over Vikings

Metcalf delivered one of the most significant plays of the game

The Steelers fought off the Minnesota Vikings with a 24-21 win in Dublin, Ireland, on Sunday. Pittsburgh couldn’t have achieved the victory without the outstanding play of star receiver DK Metcalf, who made NFL history during the game.

Metcalf caught an 80-yard touchdown pass at the start of the second quarter, marking the longest touchdown in an NFL international game, according to Steelers Depot.

The Steelers acquired Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks during the offseason; unfortunately, his performances at the beginning of the season have been inconsistent. In the first three games, Metcalf caught only 10 passes for 135 yards and recorded two touchdowns.

However, Metcalf came to play on Sunday, recording five receptions for 126 yards, and the offense would have featured him more if Pittsburgh hadn’t gotten out to a two-score lead in the second quarter.

Metcalf wasn’t the only player on Pittsburgh’s offense to step up. With starting running back Jaylen Warren sidelined due to a knee injury, backup running back Kenneth Gainwell delivered a strong performance by rushing for 99 yards and scoring two touchdowns on 19 carries.
