The Pittsburgh Steelers have cruised out to an early 14-3 lead over the Minnesota Vikings, and it looks like their quarterback/wide receiver duo of Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf may be heating up. Rodgers was hitting Metcalf early and often in this game, and it resulted in arguably the biggest play of the young season for the Steelers.
After taking over on their own 20-yard line early in the second quarter, Rodgers immediately found Metcalf in the middle of the field in stride, and he ended up taking the ball the length of the field for an 80-yard touchdown. That score put Pittsburgh up by 11 points and gave them complete control of this game.
While Metcalf has enjoyed a solid start to his tenure with his new squad, he hasn’t always been on the same page as Rodgers through three games. That has changed a big way in just one half, and as Metcalf was racing down the field, Rodgers’ immediate reaction to the play was captured on camera, and it quickly went viral on social media.
There have been some concerns about the Steelers’ offense, but for one half against a stout Vikings’ defense, they have looked fantastic. Rodgers’ ability to consistently link up with Metcalf has opened things up for the rest of the team’s playmakers, and they appear to finally be getting on track with each other after a slower start to the season.

While Pittsburgh has dominated the first half, there’s still a lot of football left to play, meaning Minnesota could stage a rally in the second half. There’s been a lot that has gone right for the Steelers early in this one, though, but the biggest development of the bunch has easily been Rodgers and Metcalf’s strong play.
