Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has made his feelings crystal clear on his future amid ongoing trade rumors.
Crosby’s future has been a talking point, but the Penguins captain says those rumors aren’t coming from him as he plans on being in Pittsburgh for his entire career.
“There’s a lot of narratives out there,” Crosby told reporters. “And I don’t think a lot of those have come from me. So, this is where I want to be. I love it here. I can’t keep having to answer the same question over again because of these narratives. If people want to write about that or say that, that’s fine. I can’t really control that. Obviously, when you lose and there’s certain things that happen, I think it’s normal for those things to come up, but that’s how I feel.”
It’s a clear-cut answer from Crosby, who wants to remain in Pittsburgh and isn’t interested in being traded. Instead, Crosby is hopeful to help lead the Penguins back to the playoffs after three straight seasons of failing to do so.
Crosby, meanwhile, also signed a two-year, $17.4 million extension a year ago, which kicks in this season. The contract also includes a full no-movement clause. So, if Crosby doesn’t want to be traded, he can’t be moved, and the Penguins captain isn’t interested in playing for a different team.
