Another offseason addition will face his old team when the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday.
Aaron Rodgers opened the 2025 season by throwing four touchdowns to defeat the New York Jets in his Steelers debut. His new wide receiver, DK Metcalf, will now face off against the Seattle Seahawks, with whom he spent the first six seasons of his NFL career.
Courtesy of Steelers.com’s Teresa Varley, Metcalf said earlier this week that he feels no additional motivation to pay back his former organization.
“No extra juice this week,” Metcalf said. “It’s just another team on the schedule that just so happens to be playing the Pittsburgh Steelers. We’ve got to go out there and do everything that we can to try to win.”
Metcalf is going about business as usual before the Week 2 matchup.

“It’s just another football game,” he continued. “Prepare for it like any other football game, because after this, you’ve got to prepare for the next opponent. The next step on the schedule. It’s just how it is. It’s not different at all.”
Metcalf made two Pro Bowls during his Seahawks tenure, registering at least 900 receiving yards each season. Following the emergence of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle traded Metcalf to Pittsburgh before the 2025 NFL Draft.
The 27-year-old didn’t need much time to get comfortable in his new surroundings. Metcalf caught four of seven targets for 83 yards in his Steelers debut, a 34-32 road win over the Jets.
He’s also already made a strong impression on Rodgers, who praised his wideout’s work ethic on Wednesday.

“He’s about the right stuff,” Rodgers said, per ESPN’s Brooke Pryor. “He cares about it enough to watch the film and put in the time and take notes and ask questions and come over and sit next to me during the week at various times to try to get on the same page. I love it. That’s unfortunately not the standard around the league.”
Sunday’s game between the Steelers and Seahawks starts at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
