The Pittsburgh Steelers made additions to their roster on Monday, bringing in long snapper Jake McQuaide and offensive tackle Julian Pearl.
Pittsburgh stayed busy on Tuesday with two more moves, signing linebacker Kenny Willekes and waiving offensive tackle Gareth Warren with an injury designation.
Willekes was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft and played his only games with the team in 2021. Willekes suited up in six contests during the 2021 campaign, recording 18 tackles, seven quarterback hits and 2.5 sacks.
The Michigan State product had been with the USFL’s Michigan Panthers since 2023 and finished the 2024 season with 21 tackles and 4.0 sacks across nine games.
Willekes had a successful college career with the Spartans, earning National Defensive Lineman of the Year honors during his 2018 junior season. He was a two-time All-Big Ten selection (2018 and 2019) as well and led the conference with 21 tackles for loss in 2018.
