The Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly have avoided worst-case scenario as it relates to an injured pass-catcher.
Undrafted tight end/fullback DJ Thomas-Jones suffered what Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin referred to as a “significant” leg injury Sunday. Initial reports feared that the injury could be season-ending.
However, The Athletic’s Mike DeFabo issued a follow-up report Monday stating Thomas-Jones does not have a torn Achilles, as some speculated. The injury is not believed to be season-ending.
Thomas-Jones offers a versatile skillset, but given Pittsburgh’s tight end room is headlined by Pat Freiermuth and offseason addition Jonnu Smith, any amount of missed time could hinder him.
