Cowboys’ George Pickens Throws Shade At Steelers Amid ‘Fresh Start’

'I’m definitely excited to run better plays'

George Pickens doesn’t have many kind words to say about the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pickens was traded to the Dallas Cowboys in May, as numerous unnecessary on-field incidents ultimately contributed to his presence wearing rather thin. The Steelers decided to move on after they were able to essentially replace him with D.K. Metcalf, though it’s safe to say they planned on separating themselves from the headline-grabbing wideout after head coach Mike Tomlin famously told members of the media he needed to “grow up” back in 2024.

Pittsburgh was sick of dealing with Pickens. Pickens didn’t want to stay in Pittsburgh. It’ll likely be a good thing for both sides that they’ve moved on from one another, but that hasn’t stopped the 24-year-old from sending shots at his former franchise.

“I’m definitely excited to run better plays,” Pickens said, referencing his “fresh start” with Dallas on Tuesday, per Dallas Morning News’ Joseph Hoyt.

Yikes.

Pickens isn’t the first person to throw shade in the direction of the Steelers’ offense, but it might be a tad early considering he’ll now be playing with a quarterback and play-caller who many people believe have underachieved with one another. The Steelers and Cowboys will not face one another until 2028, so the talk will remain exactly that.
