Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Mitch Keller is the most prolific hurler in the history PNC Park.
Weird flex?
Yes, but also one that can no longer be argued after the veteran’s stellar start against the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday. Keller became the all-time leader in strikeouts at PNC Park, picking up seven in a shutout victory to move past Paul Maholm (383) — which also came in fewer starts (78) than Maholm (100).
“He did a phenomenal job,” Pirates interim manager Don Kelly said, per Kevin Gorman of TribLive. “Seven-inning shutout — and he got better, it seemed, as the game went on. Just continued to throw strikes, threw everything for strikes, commanded both sides of the plate. Just did a great job.”
Keller, 29, now has a total of 389 across his 79 games placed at the ballpark, which sets him up nicely to hold onto the record for quite a while. David Bednar is the next closest on the active roster with 178, while Paul Skenes is the next closest starting pitcher with 130.
