After a strange two-season stint with the New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers got released this offseason before eventually signing a one-year, $13.65 million contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency. While things didn’t go as planned for Rodgers with the Jets, at least one of his former teammates, star running back Breece Hall, isn’t holding that against him.
Rodgers’ first season with the Jets in 2023 saw him last just four plays before he suffered a torn Achilles that ended his season before it ever really got started. In 2024, Rodgers returned and played in all 17 games for New York, but the team won just five games, prompting the new incoming regime to move on from him.
The Jets pivoted and signed Justin Fields to be their new quarterback in free agency after the Steelers let him walk. Now, he will be teaming up with Hall and a Jets squad that Rodgers could not make things work with. Despite that, Hall says he still has a good relationship with his former QB, crediting him for getting through the team’s nightmarish season.
“Great dude. Comes off to people a certain way, but once you really get to know him, you realize how good of a person he is,” Hall said on the “Get Got Pod.” “When you’re losing games, the blame gets put on the faces of the team.”
“Somebody has to get let go, but what people don’t realize is, when stuff is crazy organizationally, then it’s hard for players to have stability and win games. I love Aaron. Me and him still have a great relationship to this day. That’s my guy.”

Now, Rodgers will attempt to put things together one final time with the Steelers, as he revealed the 2025 campaign will likely be his final year in the league. Rodgers won’t be playing just to play either, as Pittsburgh has some real expectations entering the new season.
The city of New York may not be too fond of Rodgers, but Hall and the rest of his former teammates have generally had nothing but nice things to say about him. With the Steelers, Rodgers will attempt to win over not just his teammates, but also the team’s fanbase by going out and winning as many games as possible.
