Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas must have his phone glued to the side of his head, because he’s been wheelin’ and dealin’ ahead of the 2025 NHL Draft.
The Penguins acquired first-round pick in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday, giving them back-to-back selections at No. 11 and No. 12 prior to Friday’s draft festivities at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. Dubas seemingly isn’t done, however, as reports have stated his interest in using that pair to jump higher in the order.
Scott Wheeler of The Athletic reported the general manager has “been aggressively” inquiring with the Chicago Blackhawks about acquiring the third overall pick.
For who, exactly?
Porter Martone, James Hagens and Roger McQueen… you know, according to the rumor mill.

The Penguins would love to land one of those three players, who are viewed among the top two-way forwards available in the draft. Dubas just needs to position himself to be able to snag one of them.
