Broderick Jones trimmed down and moved to left tackle—now the Steelers need him to level up.
After spending most of his first two NFL seasons at right tackle, Jones is shifting back to the left tackle spot where he starred at Georgia. The 6-foot-5, 311-pound third-year lineman has dropped approximately 25 pounds ahead of the 2025 season in hopes of staying quicker on his feet and improving the consistency that has so far eluded him.
Jones finished the year with 11 total sacks allowed, the second most of any tackle in the NFL.
A repeat of those numbers could pose a problem for a Steelers team that just added a 41-year-old quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. Pat Meyer, the Steelers’ offensive line coach, stressed that Jones needs to make a leap in 2025.
“He’s working on consistency every day,” Meyer told Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “It’s got to be a big year for him. We all know that, and he knows that.”

Helping him take that step is 10-year veteran and Pro Bowl left guard Isaac Seumalo, who will now line up next to Jones.
“Isaac comes in ready to work,” Jones said. “I feel like that’s a big plus for me, playing next to someone like Isaac.”
Pittsburgh’s front office has poured major draft capital into the line since 2022, including trading up for Jones. The mental shift to left tackle, the physical change in weight, and the daily grind toward consistency are all part of what could define Jones’ NFL trajectory.
“Just need to stay locked in with the plays,” Jones said, “and make sure you know them so you can play at 110%.”
