The NFL draft has come and gone and the Steelers revealed their schedule for the 2025 season, but not much, if anything, has changed in Pittsburgh’s pursuit of Aaron Rodgers over that time.
The Steelers are still just waiting around for the four-time NFL MVP to make a free-agent decision — he’s basically down to either playing for the Steelers next season or retiring.
There is a little bit of good news for the Steelers are they try to get Rodgers to sign a contract as ESPN’s NFL insider Jeremy Fowler revealed Tuesday the team continues to be in contact with the star quarterback.
“People I’ve checked in on say the Steelers remain optimistic here,” Fowler said, as transcribed by PennLive’s Nick Farabaugh. “They have been in touch with Aaron Rodgers, but there’s still no hard and fast update. Clearly, the Steelers are respecting Aaron Rodgers’ time. He has alluded to the past on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ he has some issues in his inner circle he wanted to work out.”
The fact Rodgers is communicating with the Steelers is a good sign because it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for the 41-year-old to go radio silent before making a decision.

Pittsburgh opens up organized team activities next Tuesday. Those sessions are voluntary, but former NFL quarterback Matt Hasselbeck believes the Steelers will want an answer from Rodgers before the first day of OTAs.
Regardless, the clock is still ticking on Rodgers to make a decision, and he’s slowly running out of time.
