Ex-Steelers Linebacker Arrested On Assault, Harassment Charges

Devin Bush has a preliminary hearing set for May 20

Former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Devin Bush was arrested this past weekend following an incident involving a woman that took place inside the 26-year-old’s Pennsylvania home.

Bush, now a member of the Cleveland Browns, was booked for “simple assault” and “harassment” charges, according to the New York Post. The woman, identified as Bush’s girlfriend, told police that the two began arguing, which prompted her to film the ex-Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year. Bush allegedly chased her across his residence and smashed her phone before she fled to the neighbor’s house and placed a 911 call.

When officers arrived, Bush admitted to smashing the woman’s cell phone but denied any physical contact with her throughout the exchange. Police, however, discovered cuts on the inside of her wrists and outside of her right foot, and she claimed that Bush pinned her against a massage table before also taking her car keys.

The Browns signed Bush to a one-year, $3.25 million contract in March after the six-year veteran logged 16 appearances last season, registering three pass deflections, one sack, and 76 combined tackles. According to ESPN, a team spokesperson said the Browns are “aware and gathering more info,” as developments come to light.

Bush has a preliminary hearing in Allegheny County court scheduled for May 20.
